CRITERIA FOR GRADING -BSE TRAINING

Advanced

  • All standard sections of transthoracic echocardiography
  • Designated Head of Training who is BSE accredited
  • One protected training sessions each week for each trainee
  • In house assessment programme
  • Departmental training or business meetings at least once each week
  • Internet access
  • Textbooks of basic and advanced echocardiography and general cardiology
  • Full range of adult pathology either on site or supplemented by visits to a near-by centre
  • Attendance at one conference each year for trainer and trainee
  • All advanced sections of transthoracic echocardiography
  • Accreditation in TOE and stress echo
  • Full range of adult pathology on site
  • Extensive library including CD, or other case material
  • History of success in passing candidates for BSE adult accreditation, ideally more than 3 candidates within the last 3 years.
  • Formal written training programme available
  • Approved BSE marker and first marking performed within department
